OUR COFFEE, OUR STORY

I'm Joe — retired
U.S. Marine, disabled veteran, and someone who's come to depend on a good cup
of coffee more than I'd probably like to admit.

I didn't start Lefty Coffee because the world needed another coffee brand. I started it because
after years of service, and years of figuring out life with a service-related
disability, I wanted to build something that was mine — something that stood
for the people who've walked a similar road. Every bag carries that in the name
and the label: the raised fist, "Disabled Veteran Owned" right on the
front, no apologies for either one.

Why coffee, why this

Coffee's been a constant for me — something steady in a life that hasn't always felt that way.
There's a reason so many of us in the veteran community end up gathered around a cup: it's a small ritual that asks nothing of you except to show up. I wanted to build a company around that — bold, dark roast coffee that's genuinely good,
wrapped around a bigger goal: helping veterans support each other through the
stuff that doesn't show up on a discharge paperwork.

Living with a
service-related disability means some days are easier than others, physically
and otherwise. I'm not going to pretend I've got it all figured out — nobody
does. What's worked for me is staying consistent about a few things: training
and staying physically active, even on the days I don't feel like it; getting
outside whenever I can, because a change of scenery does more for my head than
almost anything else; and leaning on the structure that VA programs and a
steady routine give me, instead of trying to white-knuckle through it alone.
None of that erases the hard days. It just gives me something solid to stand
on.

That's really the
heart of Lefty Coffee: I don't think veterans are supposed to just push through
this stuff solo, and I don't think a brand should just sell you a bag and
disappear either. I want this to be a place where that community actually
exists — where the people buying a bag of coffee are also the people checking
in on each other.

What we're building
together

This is day one for
us, not a finished thing. As Lefty Coffee grows, so does the plan to make this
about more than coffee — a place where veterans and the people who support them
can connect, share what's worked for them, and know they're not the only ones
figuring it out.
